Students improve academically when their teachers are engaged in frequent and meaningful collaboration, according to a report in the Stanford Social Innovation Review. The paper's author, Carrie R. Leana, a professor of organizations and management at the University of Pittsburgh, found that a school's social capital is "a significant predictor of student achievement gains above and beyond teacher experience or ability in the classroom.
